ABC's The Bachelor Gives Women Bad Dating Advice on Finding Love

The Love Guru Blaire Allison Comments...

So what does The Bachelor have to do with Dating Advice?
It's a reality show, not an advice or talk show, so what's the connection?

In the commercial previewing the upcoming season of The Bachelor it shows 15+ girls competing, crying, fighting, and obsessing over The Bachelor.

Why?

Because as we all know, the last girl standing, gets the guy.

4 Ways ABC's The Bachelor Gives Women Bad Dating Advice on Finding Love

1. ABC's Show The Bachelor tells women they must compete to get "the" guy.
The truth is you don't need to compete to find love. You don't need to battle it out against anyone. You don't need to fight, make yourself be noticed, you don't have to be the loudest, the prettiest, the most seductive. Love doesn't work like that.
Love isn't a competition, it's a connection.

2. ABC's Show The Bachelor gives all the power and control to the guy.
The truth is when on dates, in a relationship, and when looking for love, you're both in control. You BOTH decide if the you're a match. You BOTH decide if you'd like to see one another again. You BOTH decide if the other person's interesting, attractive, and intelligent. This is how love works. Even though the show may be set up that The Bachelor is giving each girl a rose or maybe on your first few dates you wait for the man to take the lead - and ask you out again, this is only part of the truth. You always have a say in the matter and many times women get caught up in "What does he want?" "Does he like me?" - rather than the more empowering side of it and ask themselves..."What do I WANT?" and "Do I LIKE HIM?"
The sooner you realize that you're in control of your relationship, the happier (and more successful) you'll be.

3. ABC's Show The Bachelor shows women heartbroken and crying when The Bachelor doesn't pick them
The truth is its okay to cry when a relationship doesn't work out, but what the girls have with The Bachelor isn't a relationship, its reality made for TV. What this means is it's overly produced and overly edited. The goal is to "get good tv" which means, the producers hype up the participants to get super excited about The Bachelor that he's some great trophy.
In reality, The Bachelor (or the guy you're dating) is not a trophy, he's just like you.... a real person.

4. You're love life is doomed when The Bachelor doesn't pick you.
The truth is, when any date or relationship doesn't work out there's always a better match out there that's coming closer. This guy who dumped you or didn't "give you a rose" just made space for your new guy.
It's better that you thank him and thank the Universe, rather than going into doomsday thinking that you'll never find another guy as good as him. You'll be pleasantly surprised when you meet that better guy who's waiting for you, right around the corner.

Now with all that said....The TV Show, The Bachelor is just that... A TV Show. It's meant to be fun, light, and entertaining - and that it is!
